Some Things We Believe

Here are some basic doctrines which we belive the Bible teaches, and upon which we base our teaching and preaching.

  • The Bible:  We believe that the Word of God, including the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, was verbally inspired in all parts, and therefore totally without error as originally given of God.  This revelation from God is complete and final  (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21).

  • The One True God:  We believe He exists eternally as three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God but separate in personality and function (Luke 3:22; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14)

  • The Lord Jesus Christ:  We believe in His preexistence and Deity (John 1:1-3); His incarnation by virgin birth (John 1:14: Matthew 1:18-23); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15); His substitionary death on the cross for the sins of the whole world (II Corinthians 5:21); His bodily resurrection from the dead (Luke 24: 36-43); His Ascension into heaven and present ministry of intercession (Hebrews 4:14-16); and His bodily return to rapture His Church (Acts 1:11).

  • The Holy Spirit:  We believe in His personality (John 16:7-15), His Deity (Acts 5:3-4), and His work in each believer: Baptism and indwelling at the very moment of regeneration (I Corinthians 12:13; Romans 8:9), and filling (Ephesians 5:18) to empower one for a life of service to Christ (Ephesians 3:16; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22-23).

  • Man: We believe in man's direct creation in the image of God apart from any so-called evolutionary process or other theories, his subsequent fall into sin resulting in spiritual death (Genesis 3:1-24; Romans 5:12), and the necessity of his new birth for his salvation (John 3:3-5)

  • Salvation: We believe in a complete and everlasting salvation by God's grace alone, not through any good works of our own, received as the gift of God through repentance and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6; I Peter 1:18-19).

  • The Church:  We believe that the primary expression of the Body of Christ is through local, autonomous churches.  Each church is composed of baptized believers who have come together for the purpose of evangelism, discipleship, worship, teaching and observing the two ordinances of Christ - water baptism and the Lord's Supper.  Our church cooperates with other local churches in the task of evangelizing the World (Matthew 16:15-19; Acts 2:41-42; Ephesians 1:22-23).
