Hook: 3.5mm
Needles: set of (4) 3.5mm dpn
Notions: tapestry needle
Notes: Gauge really isn't important but get the firmness right of the fabric you are using this bag for. This bag was made for my husband's dice and counters when he plays Magic the Gathering. This bag is made of three parts: a crochet circle base, a knitted ribbed body and a crochet edging with the drawstring.
Crochet Base
Ring: Ch4 and join with sl st to first ch.
Note: each row inc evenly by 6 sts ea round. Crochet over tail as you go to automatically weave in end.
Round 1: Ch1. Sc into ring 6x. Join.
Round 2: Ch1. 2sc in ea sc. Join. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch1. *2sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts* rep across. Join. (18 sts)
Round 4: Ch1. *2sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts* rep across. Join. (24 sts)

Body
Pull loop: Insert hook in st, yo and pull out loop.
Pull 1 loop in each sc to pick up stitches and transfer as you go so that you have 26 loops on ea of 3 dpn (for a total of 78 loops, leaving one working needle). These will be the foundation for the knitted ribbing.
Knit 18 rows of k1p1 ribbing.
Top Edging
Loosely bind off. This is very important because if you don't bind off loosely than you'll have a hard time starting the foundation crochet row of this next part.
Round 1: Ch1. Sc in ea ch across. Join. (78 sts)
Round 2: Ch4. *Sk1, dc, ch1* rep across. Join. (78 combined dc, ch1) This makes the cord holes.
Round 3: Ch1. Sc in ea sc across. Join. (78 sts.)
Round 4: Ch1. Sc in first st. *sk2, dc6 in next st, sk2, sc in next st* repeat across. Join. Weave in end.
Drawstring: Monk Cord
Prepping for the twist. Cut a length yarn about 12 feet long. Fold it in half. Tie two knots where the end meet with enough space between them to slip over a door handle.
Close door and attach yarn. Pull yarn taunt, and slip loop onto the middle of a dpn. Turn dpn like a fan blade until the twist is tight. Still firmly holding the dpn end, pinch the middle and fold in half. The cord will twist onto itself automatically. Knot both ends and trim the extras off. This will give you a nice cord to weave in and out of the cord holes.
