I really don't like Google Sites for my home page

posted ‎‎Dec 10, 2008 11:03 PM‎‎ by Steven Farnell   [ updated ‎‎Dec 10, 2008 11:19 PM‎‎ ]

So, Google Sites is just pissing me off!

I can't use my own CSS sheets... I can't use Javascript... I can't use IFrames... I can't do anything.  well, I can do basic things, but the biggest problem is that Google Sites has rediculous limitations, and I don't want to create Google gadgets to do the things I want.  I want to just use my own JS on this page... end of story.  Quick, Easy, and Dirty.  Just get the job done.

So, Google Sites sucks.  I have been trying.  I love just about everything Google, but they should not replace Google Pages with Google Sites.  They serve two different purposes.  Google Pages is good for personal home pages.  Google Sites is good for Corperate Intranet Sites.

End of story.  Two differnt products, for two very different purposes.

Google Documents... Grr

So, as I work to transition my site ahead of the curve, I find that Google did not create a half decent way for people to port the site over.  My newest problem is that Google documents that I have published (most notably my resume) don't show up for the public to view.  WTF!

Welcome

I've finally gotten around to starting the migration from googlepages.

So far I have to admit it has been very frustrating.  No embed... no script... no iframes... it's really getting to me.

It's like I have to rethink the whole way I made my other site, and when I made it with google page maker, the functionality was so much better.

anyway... so this move has to be one of the most unpleasant things google has ever put me through.  I hate it!

anyway... more to come as I actually make some progress.

Later,
