Favourite event: My favourite event is when my club, City of Manchester play Lancaster in National League. This is always a close game. Any international games are always exciting and I’m always proud to represent my country.
Finest ever performance/Why: The trip that our junior team took to Slovakia and then on to the European Junior Championships in Istanbul. We took silver in the Slovakian tournament and we provided a sound performance. I personally scored a few goals but it was my part in the overall team performance I was happy with. I was very proud to be a part of the team and to travel to the European championships with such a great bunch of lad. I have only recently moved up in the programme and I hope to have more high quality performances for the senior team and to be part of the team looking forward to the 2012 Olympics.
First senior international meet: My first senior international experience came only in September 2008. I was moved up into the senior programme after competing in the junior Europeans for my age group. The team travelled to Malta to compete in the Comen Cup. We played French club team FNC Douai, Italian club team RN Sori, Greek club team Chania and the Maltese national team.
Role models: Steven Gerrard, Jason Robinson, Muhammad Ali, Lance Armstrong, Jimmy Bullard
My aspirations are: Continue playing water polo to my full potential and to help the GB senior programme progress. The ultimate goal for the team is to reach the 2012 Olympics in London. I would be honoured to be in this team and that is what I am working towards. I hope to finish my university degree in 2010 and after this I may look into travelling abroad to compete in a different league in another country
Tip for the top: My tip would be to always listen and respect your coaches. Get your head down and concentrate on improving always. Never be satisfied with what you have or have achieved, there is always more out there
Life after water polo: I have not really thought that far yet but I would like to look into coaching when I have finished playing water polo. Although I would still like to be playing when I’m 50.
Music: Bit of everything really. Whatever sounds good to me.
If I wasn’t a water polo player I would be a: Geography student probably
Describe yourself in three words: Funny, laid-back and dedicated
Would most like to meet: Steven Gerrard, Muhammad Ali.
Most prized possession: My car
Biggest influence on career: My old swimming coach Hayden Rigby. He competed at the Olympics and won a medal at the commonwealth games. He taught me how to swim, never give up and how to do press ups.
