About Friends of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission Friends of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission is the non-profit arm of Sacramento’s local arts agency, committed to supporting the arts through arts education and outreach programs, fund development, and arts advocacy. We receive grants, workplace giving, bequests, gifts, and other donations. We hope you will support our efforts to advance and enliven the creative sector in Sacramento. All funds raised this year will be used to support our education and outreach program for our public art program, where we offer educational outreach to Sacramento’s K-12 students as well as others. During these challenging economic times, we all have the opportunity to express our humanity by reaching out to help where we can. You can do this by supporting the MPJFA. Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission has been supporting the arts in
our region for over 30 years through our grant programs, Art in Public
Places, education and outreach, and arts awareness events and public
service messages. The Arts Commission
actively fosters, develops, and advocates support of the arts within
Sacramento City and County. It is a valuable resource and community hub,
helping to create a vital arts scene that advances the quality of life
in our region for residents and visitors alike, as well as contributes
to a growing economy. About the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission
The
Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, established in 1977, is
a public agency devoted to supporting, promoting, and advancing the
arts in the region. Funded by the City and County, we provide funding to
local artists and arts groups; we promote the arts through marketing,
outreach and education initiatives; we provide resources to support and
increase regional arts education activities; and we serve as a community
partner and resource.
The
agency is guided by 11 Commissioners, five appointed by the Sacramento
City Council, five appointed by the Sacramento County Board of
Supervisors, and one appointed jointly by the mayors of Folsom, Isleton,
and Galt. The Arts Commission meets on the second Monday of every
month or as needed.
Friends of the Sacramento
Metropolitan Arts Commission (FAC) was incorporated in 1981 to support
the programs of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. We
are expanding our services and hope you will check back for exciting
updates.
