FROPS 2010 AGM - Thursday 4th November

The FrOPS 2010 AGM will take place Thursday 4th November, 2010.

The FroPS AGM will be held on Thursday 4th November at 7 pm, at Eccles Fire Station.  We are hoping to have a few speakers and will be sending out more information once they have confirmed that they will be coming.

Next gardening and tidy up - Sunday 19th September, 11:30am

The next gardening and tidy up by volunteers at the station will be on Sunday 19th September at the usual time of 11:30am.

It is hoped that new planting may be possible in the flower beds that have been recently cleared and had fresh compost put in.

New volunteers are very welcome to attend.

Equipment and tools are provided.  Please be sure to wear sturdy shoes and clothing appropriate for a couple of hours of outdoor work.

St Patrick's Students to Exhibit Rail Themed Poster Art At Eccles Community Art Gallery

Students from St Patrick's Roman Catholic High School and Arts College will be exhibiting poster artwork showcasing the industrial and railway heritage of the Eccles and Patricroft area at Eccles Community Art Gallery f
rom Saturday 19th June, 2010.

The Friends of Patricroft Station (FrOPS) would like to invite you to attend this local community event at the Eccles Community Art Gallery. The exhibition will run for four consecutive Saturdays, commencing on 19th June 2010.  It will present a project by students of St Patrick’s RC Secondary School, Winton, who have created a set of posters for FrOPS, to be displayed at Patricroft Station.


The exhibition will be launched at
10.30 a.m. by the Mayor of Salford, Councillor George Wilson, accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs Carole Wilson.


The students have worked with their teacher, Charles Magee, and an artist from Hot Bed Press, Amanda Tolley, to produce screen prints reflecting local industrial and railway history.


We hope that you will come to the exhibition to support the work of the students.  Please distribute this article to anyone you know who may be interested in what should be an important event for the community of Eccles and Patricroft.


Hot Bed Press (www.hotbedpress.org) is a not-for-profit, open access, printing workshop located in the Chapel Street ‘cultural quarter’ of Salford.




The collaboration has been supported by the City Council through the Environmental Education Team, the Community Arts Development Team and the Eccles Neighbourhood Management Team. Space for the exhibition has been made available by Karen Illingworth of the Eccles Community Art Gallery.

Eccles Community Art gallery (07981791475) is a not-for-profit Community Interest Group, located in Boothway, Eccles. It aims to present artwork/crafts from local artists and art clubs, and offers community tables for other local interest groups to promote their work or recruit new members.

FrOPS (www.frops.org.uk) is a community group dedicated to improving the environment of Patricroft Station in order to attract more rail users to the station in Green Lane, Patricroft.

 

The exhibition launches SATURDAY 19TH JUNE and runs for four consecutive Saturdays at Eccles Community Art Gallery, located on Boothway in Eccles Shopping Centre

Community Tidy-Up Every Month at Patricroft Station

FrOPS tidy-up at Patricroft Station on the third Sunday of every month, starting at 11:30am.

All interested parties are very welcome to attend.

FrOPS actively clear vegetation, debris and litter; plant bulbs and seeds; seek to make improvements to the station and surrounding area.

Equipment and tools are provided, although please wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing for a couple of hours of outdoor working.
