The Old Order Changeth

Joy has been the chairman for the past 15 years, representing the Friends with vigour, dignity and humour. She has now decided to resign from this post which she has filled with so much success.

Thanks, Joy, for all you have done.

Our new chairman is now Mrs Valerie Miles to whom we wish equal success.

Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery

Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery is a listed Victorian Gothic building in the centre of the town. Two minutes walk from Marks and Spencer,you can easily pop in for a visit to its fine collections while you're out shopping. The displays are modern and accessible. Where else can you use binoculars (provided) to do your museum bird spotting?
 
 
 
It has world class collections of Japanese prints (bettered only by the British Museum), icons and early books.
 
  • There is an excellent local history gallery,
  • a room dedicated to Blackburn's recent past as a cotton town,
  • The Hart Gallery
  • regularly changing displays,
  • South Asian gallery,
  • Community gallery for the work of local artists.
