This document lists the Special Rules for our event. Except as noted in these instructions, the tournament will follow the Standard Constructed Tournament format and current V:EKN rules. At least 75% (e.g., 9 out of 12) of the vampires in a player's crypt must belong to the same clan. Alternatively, a player can announce his or her intention to play a Black Hand or Anarch deck prior to the start of the tournament, in which case at least 20% of his or her library must be cards that require Black Hand or Anarch, respectively. Recalled to the Founder is banned from play. Each game table will have a number of specific storyline minions equal to the number of Methuselahs in the game in the middle of the table. These cards are considered uncontrolled and out of play. On the first player's fourth turn, and on every subsequent turn, Methuselahs will start controlling these minions. Control of these minions is gained at the beginning of a turn's minion phase. The acting player will choose first, then the next player and so on in clockwise order. These minions remain controlled until the end of the minion phase, at which time they are returned to the middle, uncontrolled, with the same counters (blood, life or otherwise) they had and all cards on them. If for any reason the first player does not get a fourth turn (by First Tradition: The Masquerade or other cause), the next player gets to choose a special minion on his or her minion phase, and so forth. If a table starts with four players, the minions are chosen in normal manner, with one minion remaining on the middle of the table and being removed from the game. From then on, there is one minion per player. Due to his importance, if Claudio Severino is still not chosen by the last player's time to choose, he or she is obligated to choose Claudio Severino. The same rules apply if one or more players are ousted before the fourth turn. If a player is ousted during a minion phase, the minion he or she controls is removed from the game. If a player is ousted during any other phase of the game, the minion he or she controlled last is removed from the game. But fame has a price, due to the high significance of these minions in our story. When one of these "special" minions goes to torpor, his or her controller immediately loses one pool, and the minion is returned to the middle, uncontrolled, either with the same blood counters he or she had (and all cards on him or her), or with one blood if he had none. Should one of these minions be burnt or removed from the game, the same rules of torpor are followed, but in addition, his or her controller must also burn the top card of his or her crypt. "Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!" In each of the initial rounds there will be different minions in the middle of the table, according to the evolution of the story, while on the final round there will be no "special" minions on the table. |
