Our mentors work hard and so each month teachers nominate students to receive recognition at the lunch and learns meetings. Students are extremely supportive of each other as well and will not hesitate to recognize fellow mentors.
NOVEMBER
Adrienne Schwartzman is an energy pack too. She came in and told me about her plan for the next session, beaming with pride. And it's a really good plan! She gives a lot of thought to her work, and the quality shows. ~ Mr. Reilly Allison Belfield is a wonderful mentor that takes the initiative to inspire my ninth grade students to try to make themselves better people. Paloma Longhi ~ Ms. Kim

OCTOBER
(4th lunch) “ [This mentor] has been a true leader with my group freshman. She has taken the initiative to begin activities since the beginning in August. She is positive and friendly to all. I am very happy to have her with my class! “ Congratulations, Gabby Cox ~ Ms. Hiltgen
(4th lunch) “ [This mentor] is an outstanding mentor. On Friday, September 26 she took time out of her busy schedule to sit down with me and pick my brain on how she could "improve" her lessons for our first period class. On Monday, she came prepared with samples/props to help the presentation. Excellent job, Leah White! “ ~Ms. Hernandez
(4th lunch) “ [This mentor] from my group of mentors has done a great job. We sat down yesterday to plot out how to best help the students and make him and his group better mentors. I can tell from that meeting he has a desire to be the best mentor he can. He is constantly looking to find ways to connect to his students. I'm impressed with his work ethic.” Congratulations, John Bartine! ~ Mr. Jones
(4th lunch) “I have four OUTSTANDING freshman mentors, who provide bilingual support to the Non English Proficient (level 1) speakers in my first period class. They are always welcome and appreciated by the students and me! [This mentor] has done a wonderful job with my ESOL class. She has put so much planning time into translating the lessons for each day. She is very conscientious and effective. She has shown a lot of leadership throughout the semester.” Congratulations, Dana Oh! ~ Ms. Tallant
(5th lunch) “[My mentors] have done an excellent job of absorbing another mentor’s group into their own, even when I’ve been absent. They’ve been doing fine without the other mentor, but we'll be happy to have him back of course!! Between the other mentor’s injury and my unexpected absences, they have really have done a great job keeping up with everything!” Congratulations, Chinwe Nwigwe, Donald Del Nero, and Natacia Snow ~ Ms. McDaniel
(5th lunch) “ [This mentor] is an outstanding freshman mentor. She adds a personal touch to each lesson which shows the freshmen how important each topic is to them. I notice how they pay close attention to everything she says and even if it is something that I have said before, they seem to listen more intently to her. For example, she talked about the importance of being involved in school and community and how it will look on their high school resume if they get involved in great things. She also addressed the negatives of having nothing to put on that college application. Colleges look for involvement, and she told the students to look on the college applications and see what they ask. She encouraged them to get involved now to prepare for senior year and getting into the college you want to attend.” Congratulations, Andrea Pettus! ~ Ms. Radloff
(5th lunch) “ [My mentors] are awesome! This recognition is for their persistence with a particularly hard to reach group of freshman.” Great job, Paul Andrews and Krissy Anderson ! ~ Ms. Hullender
(5th lunch) “ [This mentor] has been doing a wonderful job so far. She has done an exceptional job in building a strong rapport with the students. She has shown that she is willing to go above and beyond the "call of duty" by offering her time and services before and after school on Wednesdays to tutor my students. I'm looking forward to see how the tutoring sessions help our students.” Congratulations, Ana Kerr! ~ Mr. Brenner
(6th) “It was very exciting to hear some of the mission statements today. One mentor was especially able to get her group to stop and think about what is really important. It is obvious that she truly prepares for every lesson. She carefully explains the goal of each lesson and why it really matters. She is incredibly convincing! I sincerely admire her enthusiasm and dedication to the mentoring program.” Congratulations, Brittlan Wall! ~ Ms. Tison
(6th) “The freshmen in our class really love [this mentor] and how he mentors, even drawing a few pictures of him before mentoring! There was regular Curtis, Curtis the Bear, and Super-Curtis up on the board when we walked in. He's really good with the freshmen and gets them involved and excited about whatever the topic is for the day. Definitely a top-notch mentor!” Congratulations, Curtis Hayden! ~ Patrick Morton
(6th) “ [This mentor] is an amazing energy ball, the "burst" of the group. She's honestly concerned that mentoring be a great experience for the students, and she is ready to do what it takes to make sure that happens.” Congratulations, Sheena Patel! ~ Mr. Reilly

(6th period) Kate Wilberger because she has made a concious effort to talk to the freshmen outside of class and school - at football games, in the hall, etc. All of the freshmen love her because she has such a friendly personality and has really gotten the freshmen to open up. She does a great job of getting on their level and just talking with them, and does a great job of making the lessons interesting for her group. They've already started asking how they can be mentors! She's opened up with the entire class, not just her group. ~ Lindsay Davis
