Who's teaching?

My name is Nicole Bodell and this is my first year in Allegan Public Schools. I am from Grand Ledge, MI which is a small town west of Lansing. I am a graduate of Michigan State University, with a degree in Elementary Education and minors in French and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

My first experience with learning a foreign language was probably hearing Spanish on Sesame Street! I then had a taste of French and German in middle school. I loved the idea of being able to travel to places and speak the language of the people that lived there, so I decided to continue with French in high school and then also in college. I didn't always know what I was going to do with French, but I knew I wanted to keep learning more. I was able to travel to France for the first time with a school group and a guided 10 day tour of different places in the country. I liked it so much that I went back a few years later to go to a French language school for 2 months and live with a French family in the city of Tours. This past year I had the opportunity of working and living in Laval, a small town in France for 10 months, teaching English in elementary schools to students aged 6-12 years old. Living in France was a wonderful learning and teaching experience, and a school year I will never forget.

My hobbies are traveling, cooking, reading, watching movies, camping, and photography. I also try to spend as much time as I can with my cat Hazel, my family, and friends. I'm looking forward to getting to know Allegan students and families, and exploring the French language with them!
