Fremington Air Scouts

Investiture

The investiture is when a Scout officially joins the Troop.

This is usually around six weeks after joining the Troop.

What happens:

All the Scouts stand in their patrols facing inwards in a horseshoe style.

The Patrol Leader (PL) then escorts the Scout(s) to be invested to face Skip.

The PL then steps back and leaves the Scout(s) to be invested.

Skip asks the Scout(s) if they are ready to take the promise and understand the law.

They then make the Scout Sign with their right hand.

With their left hand they hold the group flag.

They then say the Scout Promise:

On my honour, I promise that I will do my best

to do my duty to God and to the Queen

            to help other people and

            to keep the Scout Law.

They then also say the Scout Law:

The Scout Law is:

  1. A Scout is to be trusted.
  2. A Scout is loyal.
  3. A Scout is friendly and considerate.
  4. A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts.
  5. A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
  6. A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
  7. A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.

Your badges and scarf (neckerchief) will be presented by the leader(s).

You then receive the badges and then shake hands with each leader (left hand).

Then salute the leaders and then the Troop.

You then return to your Patrol.

Parents/Family/Friends are allowed to come to your investiture and take pictures. Please check with Skip what date and time you are being invested. We like to do investitures in unusual places as well.
