We would like to welcome you to Shelton & Mason County Parrot Rescue.  Our headquarters is located in the Southwest Puget Sound area of Washington State in the Pacific Northwest.  

We currently serve all of Washington state.  We accept parrots of all species, sizes, ages, special needs, behavioral or other issues.

 

We are registered with the Washington State Secretary of State as a Non-Profit, Charitable, Parrot Rescue and Rehabilitation Organization.  

SMCPR is administered and operated through 100% volunteers.  90% of all financial donations received is used for the care of the birds.  The remaining 10% of financial donations cover our administration, office and advertising costs.

You will find that we are structured differently than many rescues.  We do not have one primary, central location as a shelter.  Instead, we utilize a network of volunteers who have opened their hearts and homes.  Our foster homes exist throughout  the state of Washington.  Using this structure, SMCPR is able to help more and more  birds and parrots in need.  

 

If a bird is unable to be rehabilitated, retrained or has proved to be too dangerous to be adopted, we will work with certified, licensed and well recognized exotic bird sanctuaries for placement.  As of this date, we are grateful to say, we have accepted into foster care, all surrendered birds and parrots.  Only one parrot was transferred to a sanctuary. 

 

We do NOT breed our foster birds and parrots.  We will NOT adopt to bird breeders.  We do NOT sell our foster birds.  We are a NO-KILL rescue.  

 

As an adoptive parent(s), we will provide you with free support, education and advice for the life of the bird.  

SMCPR is part of a network of Washington rescues and sanctuaries.  Our organization works with other rescues with overflow needs.  In addition, we coordinate the transfer of abandoned birds and parrots from the humane society, animal shelters and veterinary offices. 

 

We are committed to finding the perfect, loving, forever home for every adoptable bird or parrot in our rescue.

 

Donations are the lifeline of our rescue.   Veterinary services, bird transport, food, cages and supplies are a few of the needs of our rescue.  We depend on community donations.   SMCPR accepts donations in a variety of forms:  financial assistance through our veterinarian clinics, physical assistance with transportation needs and specific donations of  bird food, cages, play stands and other necessary supplies.
