PTA BOARD AND COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS

BAAC Liaison (Officer - Stephanie

Chairpersons:  Tim & Iris Snow

This person will serve as the liaison between the PTA and the BAAC.  He or she will attend the PTA and BAAC meetings (or send someone in their place if unable to attend).  They will report any questions, concerns, or news at the BAAC and PTA meetings.

·    Literacy (Officer – Tammye)

The literacy committee chairperson coordinates the Fall and Spring Literacy Nights and Fall and Spring daytime

library celebrations working with the Library Technology Educator and Literacy Resource Teacher.  The committee

will help organize and facilitate these events.

 

·     Math (Officer – Stephanie)   
Chairperson:  OPEN

The math committee chairperson will develop and coordinate enrichments programs to support math education. 

The committee will help organize and facilitate these events.

 

·      Safety (Officer – Angie)

Chairperson:  OPEN

The safety chairperson will serve on the School Safety Committee and be liaison to/for PTA.  The safety chairperson and committee will organize various assemblies and/or after school assemblies to instruct students on safety awareness as well as securing volunteers to staff such events. 

 

·      Science (Officer – Stephanie)
Chairperson:  OPEN

The science committee chairperson will develop and coordinate enrichments programs to support science

education.  The committee will help organize and facilitate these events.

 

Fine Arts (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Joann Clark

The fine arts committee will work with teachers and staff to help organize music or drama performances or art shows. Committee members also may provide help as needed for practices, set-up, stage decoration (painting or building props), performances, and clean up.

 

Fund Raising (Officer – Angie)

Chairperson:  Cyndi Hauser

The chairperson is responsible for the coordinating of regarding the products to sell at any fundraiser held for the benefit of Freedom Elementary PTA.  The chairperson will present ideas to Executive Board then the PTA membership will vote on fundraisers. The chairperson will provide a written summary of the fundraisers for the PTA files.  The chairperson will also secure and oversee volunteers as needed for such fundraisers.  He or she will also serve as the liaison between the school and the company sponsoring the fundraiser. The committee ensures orders and monies are accurate and submitted to the PTA treasurer.  Subcommittees of fundraising are:  Albertson’s Community Cards, Box Tops, Campbell's Labels for Education, Good Search and Sherwin Williams.

 

·      Albertson’s Community Cards

      Chairperson: Caron Reilly

The chairperson will be responsible to coordinate Albertson’s community cards to include delivery to students each school year.  The chairperson will verify payment and submit in a timely manner to treasurer.

 

·      Box Tops

      Chairperson:  Juana Ransom

The chairperson will be responsible for developing and organizing the collection of  Box Tops.  The chairperson will verify payment and submit in a timely manner to treasurer.  The committee will assist chairperson with classroom competitions and counting.

 

·      Campbell’s (Labels for Education)

      Chairperson: Julie Brook

The chairperson will be responsible for developing and organizing the collection of  Campbell’s (Labels for Education).  The chairperson and committee will decide on the awards for points earned.  The committee will assist with counting labels. 

 

·      Good Search

      Chairperson: Angie McWilliams

The chairperson will be responsible to coordinate the Good Search Engine.  The chairperson will verify payment and submit in a timely manner to treasurer.

 

 

 

Hospitality (Officer – Angie)

Chairperson:  Katrina Wimmer

The hospitality committee chairperson is responsible for organizing quarterly staff birthday luncheons.  The chairperson will distribute birthday cards for all staff members.  This committee will acknowledge staff on special recognition days (Teacher Appreciation Week, ESP Week, and Admin. Professional Day) and distribute cards for special Awards or recognitions.  The chairperson will coordinate a "Welcome” gift for the first day that staff reports to work.  The chairperson will coordinate a dinner for all staff on Open House night. The committee members will help by donating items for celebrations, as well as the setting up, serving, and cleaning up. 

 

Legislative (Officer – Tammye)

Chairperson:  Lori Wood

The legislative committee chairperson will provide information on PTA legislative news emphasizing the your vote does make a difference.  The chairperson will develop and coordinate and a mock election for students (during election years). 

 

Membership (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Verna Toller

The membership chairperson and committee are responsible for recruiting new members into PTA. The chairperson will keep an accurate membership roster and provide monthly to Executive Board prior to PTA meeting.  The chairperson is to ensure all monies are accurate and submitted to the PTA treasurer monthly. The chairperson is responsible to provide membership reports to Colorado PTA on Nov. 1 and Feb 1.  The chairperson and committee will organize membership drives.  The chairperson and committee will distribute membership cards along with welcome PTA membership letter.

 

Publicity (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairpersons:  Julie McGahey & Caron Reilly

The publicity committee handles the publicity needs for any PTA functions. Subcommittees of publicity are:  Buddy Directory, Bulletin Board Displays, Business Partnerships, Historian/Scrapbook, Webmaster.

 

·      Student Directory (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson: Gladys Langness

The buddy directory chairperson is to organize and distribute a student directory to Freedom Families at the beginning of the school year to include student names, addresses, phone numbers and emails if provided.

 

·      Bulletin Board Displays (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Caron Reilly

The bulletin board display chairperson shall maintain the PTA Bulletin Board located in the school lobby in a timely manner with PTA information and events.

 

 ·     Business Partnership/Donations (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  OPEN

The business partnership coordinator will coordinate any donations for PTA events.  The chairperson will maintain a list of all businesses contacted, make sure there are not duplicates, and give permission for contact based on that information.  No business will be contacted until the donation coordinator has checked the list. 

 

·      Historian/Scrapbook (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Katrina Forman

The historian/scrapbook committee chairperson is responsible for creating a scrapbook of all the school year activities. The committee members will work together to collect pictures, information, flyers, and other memorabilia to help create the scrapbook. The scrapbook will be kept in the library.

 

·     Webmaster  (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  OPEN

The webmaster is responsible for overseeing and maintaining PTA’s website with current information.

 

Reflections (Officer – Tammye)

Chairperson:  Julie Henry

The chairperson coordinates this National PTA art achievement and recognition program that provides an opportunity for students (K-12) to express themselves artistically. 

 

Services

 

·      Book Fair (Officer – Stephanie)

Chairperson:  Becky Dixon

The book fair committee chairperson will be responsible for booking the company at least six months prior to the fair date.  The chairperson will be responsible for staffing the fair with volunteers.  The chairperson will submit final reports to the treasurer and get the check to the book fair company in a timely manner.  The committee will be responsible for set-up, counting proceeds for each day and taking down the book fair.

 

·      CSAP Snacks (Officer - Tammye)

Chairperson:  Ashley Engles-Ross

The chairperson will coordinate snacks for students during CSAP testing. 

 

·      Edu-Kits (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Octavia Carifi-Ansley

The chairperson will coordinate the sale of Edu-Kits in May and have kits in classrooms on Meet & Greet night for next school year.

 

·      Health Screening (Officer – Tammye)

Chairperson:  Dana Greene

The chairperson will be responsible for coordinating with D-11 for vision and hearing screening. The chairperson will coordinate volunteers for the day of screening.  Volunteers will be briefly trained by D11 to assist in the screening process.

  

·      Perfect Attendance (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Melissa Caceres

      The chairperson will coordinate with the office to distribute monthly perfect attendance awards.  The chairperson and committee will distribute monthly and take a classroom photo.  Classroom photos will be displayed outside each classroom.
 

·      Pop Tabs (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Janet Strutton

The chairperson will be responsible for developing and organizing the collection of pop tabs and delivering them to the Ronald McDonald organization each school year.

 

·      School Pictures (Officer – Tammye)

Chairperson:  Katrina Wimmer

The school pictures committee chairperson will be responsible for coordinating with the staff to arrange sitting times for students. Volunteers for the day of pictures will be needed to help maintain the schedule, escort classes, and help with last minute grooming needs.

 

·      Spirit Items (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Kim Warren

The chairperson will be responsible for developing and organizing the distribution and collection of order forms, placing products orders, as well as the distribution of products purchased.

 
·     Student Art Works (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairperson:  Kristin Tabeling

The chairperson will be responsible for coordinating with the Art Teacher and company representative to organize this program.  The chairperson and committee will be responsible for distribution and collection of order forms and delivery of orders.
 

·    Yearbook  (Officer – Tammye)

Chairperson:  Lara Crowell/Carmin Humphries

The yearbook committee chairperson works with the Library Technology Educator to coordinate the yearbook publication.  The committee assists the chairperson.

 

 

 Social (Officer – Angie and Tammye)

Chairperson:  OPEN

The social committee chairperson is responsible to coordinate socials.   The chairperson and committee will help organize and facilitate these events.  Subcommittees of social are:  Movie Nights, Restaurant Nights and Skate Nights.

 

·      Movie Nights (Officer - Angie)

Chairperson:  OPEN

The chairperson will coordinate Movie Nights.

 

·      Restaurant Nights (Officer - Tammye)

Chairperson:  OPEN

The chairperson will coordinate Restaurant Nights and be the point of between restaurant and school.  The chairperson will coordinate flier distribution and verify payment receipt in a timely manner.

 

·      Skate Nights (Officer - Tammye)

Chairperson:  OPEN

The chairperson will coordinate Skate Nights and be the point of contact for Skate City.  The chairperson will coordinate flier distribution and verify payment receipt in a timely manner. An attendance record per class will be taken for classroom awards.

 

Teacher Representative

Ms. Redford

The teacher representative will serve as the liaison between the PTA and the Freedom staff.  He or she will attend the PTA and Freedom staff meetings (or send someone in their place if unable to attend).  They will report any questions, concerns, or news at the PTA and Freedom staff meetings. 

 

Volunteer (Officer – Sherrill)

Chairpersons:  Angela Gold & Margie Limas

The volunteer committee chairperson is responsible for obtaining volunteers for Freedom Elementary, various PTA and school related activities.  Responsibilities to include:  Interacting with District Volunteer Manager, Registering volunteers in the District’s volunteer system, requiring them to sign the volunteer registration forms.  Maintaining the volunteer kiosk to ensure it functions properly.  Proactively contacting Freedom staff to obtain volunteer needs. Actively seek and train volunteers to meet the needs of the staff and/or school events.  Logging volunteer hours as needed to create monthly reports and an annual report for District 11 that identifies volunteer hours.  Create ways to recognize top volunteers each month.  Implement and track the “Three For Me” volunteer program to include the Wall of Fame. Coordinate with school staff an end of year party to recognize volunteers.  Create badges for new volunteers, visitors and substitutes as needed.
