A brief introduction of my working history is given below. For other information have a look at what I have provided using the side-bar.

I graduated in forestry and nature conservation from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, to take up a position with the Directorate of Forestry in Namibia. Initially stationed in the Grootfontein area, I was not only involved in law enforcement but also in the development of the Kanovlei Research Station in the Tsumkwe district. Later, I was moved to Windhoek, to join the National Remote Sensing Centre. I completed an M.Sc. in Nature Conservation in 1996, focusing on the ecology and management of Pterocarpus angolensis

In 1995 I moved to Sabi in South Africa where I joined Mondi Forest (N) to develop a geographic information system (GIS) for the company. However, in July 1998 I returned to Namibia to accept a lecturing post at the Polytechnic of Namibia. After completing my doctorate in forest management (G-A University in Goettingen, Germany) in 2005 I took up a lecturing position at the University of Ballarat, Victoria, in Australia, for four years till 2009.

I am now a Senior Researcher at the University of Namibia, retaining an Honorary Research Fellowship with the University of Ballarat.
