Blood And Metal‎ > ‎

Eric Krockett

As the main character in Blood and Metal, Eric goes through a lot of changes and experiences throughout the tale, not just becoming a Werewolf in Maatla.  (And he can mutilate me for that crack, I don't care.)  He'll experience highs and lows, been idolized and vilified, see wonders in the Maatla around him and lean very important lessions about himself.

But all throughout he'll still remain true to the core of his being, a core easily described with the lyrics of Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd.  He's not the kind who wants his life to be more complicated than necessary.  He knows that not everyone would be on friendly terms with him, but he makes himself as a friendly sort anyway.  He's the honest type, doesn't feel a need to be presumptous, and believes that what he does; be it delivering a message, beating down a giant mech, or even offering his arm to a pretty girl; is something anyone else would do or is supposed to do.  And dispite being knighted by the end of the first act, and even when he's considered to be the heir apparent, he still has the mindset of a common folk, more eager to go to a tavern and drink a beer than to be primped and preened by multiples of waiting ladies.

And that comes to his main flaw in his personality; his taste for alcahol.  He doesn't do it to get drunk or anything, and he does his best to pace himself and never drinks in front of children, he drinks becasue he likes beer.  In fact, he considers beer to have all four food groups in one bottle.  And then there's the obvious of being a stranger form a strange world.  Especially at first when Eric's still settling in, and while he's quick to hit the books to study up on Maatlan culture, grateful as all get out that the Common Language in Maatla is very simlar to the Earthling English language, there will be some moments when things get lost in translation.  Hilarity will ensue.

He's also nortorious of being the last to know about small but very important details, usually about an activity he's doing at that time.  When King Acorn asked him to deliver a message to his daughter after turning Eric into a Wolf, Eric told him a line that quickly becomes a running gag:  "You're telling me this now?"
