| Original story: The Magic of Laughter I have weird taste, and I'll be the first to admit it. One of them has got to be my like for clowns. Most people don't, and I understand that bit completely. To me it's the part where the clown isn't like a normal human, but more like a living doll. With all the imperfections smoothed away and an idealized being is painted into place. Clowns won't get hurt or would intentionally go out to hurt--unless they're the outer space kind who need blood to feed on, but I digress--and could exist on a plane somewhat higher and more perfect (or maybe less imperfect) than a normal mortal. I might be grasping at straws over why I'm interested in them, but I think there was a web comic that got closer to the mark than what I'm doing right now. As I was investigating why I have this bit in me, there was a story that popped in my head. Where a suicidal girl is rescued from the brink of self-imposed disaster by a magician (It used to be Copper Mystran, but he evolved on me.) who over the weeks after tending to her, turn her into a clown. At first to see her start to smile again, but over time she fell deeper and deeper into her clown image, until it replaced her persona and identity. Over time, the clown grew closer and closer to the Magician, and they share a very loving relationship. (Oh, and in case you're wondering; the girl is 17-18. Get your minds out of the gutters.) At the end though, she strikes off on her own, enjoying life as a new person, and maybe even helping someone else as she was helped. This little idea was filed away in my Moleskines until someone else wanted to take a crack at it. Or at the least, wanted to work on the project with me. I don't know how often this story will be updated, but at least we'll have a place for it. Read Magic of Laughter: |
