We always can use some help here and there.
Right now (July 2009), we are gearing up for the Bookfair and conferences on July 12 & 14. We will need Field Day parents every morning of the week of July 20-24, and we will need LOTS of help the day of the musical (July 23). We will need the following donated food items: homemade baked goodies for the teachers during conferences; 100% juice, bottled water, and selected sodas for the musical. In general, our calendar looks like this:
The Thursday before Labor Day (conferences), we often hold a Used Uniform Sale and need help manning the tables and cashiering.
In September, we often host an Ice Cream Social and need help monitoring tickets.
In November, we coordinate food (and sometimes homemade baked goods) for the staff during the Fall Conferences. We also have a bookfair on those dates, and need cashiers, library supervisors, and people to set-up and tear-down.
In February, because of the Intersession, we try to have refreshments and sometimes a parent event during Parent Involvement Day.
In March, we have conferences. We will need donated baked goods for the teachers' lounge. We are also holding a uniform drive and jacket/snowpants drive - please bring in your gently used uniform pieces and jackets - we will be holding a "swap" and sale for these uniform pieces. Uniform pieces not sold will be kept available for the school and future sales. Any leftover jackets will be donated to St. Joseph's Coat. We will need some volunteers to help staff the sale (about 2 to 4 volunteers for each 2 hour shift, during conferences).
In April, it will be time to collect nominations for Board members (you can nominate yourself!!)
In May, we hold elections. We also start collecting volunteers for Musical costumes, set building, and concessions.
In June, we start collecting donations of pop and water for the musical. Costumes and sets are being created. This year, we will have our Walkathon in June, instead of July. Hopefully it will be cooler. However, we will take collections of bottled water for the kids and teachers as they hike around the school grounds.
In July, our Musical will still need costume helpers, classroom helpers, concession ticket sales, food sales, and other tasks. We also have another bookfair scheduled and need cashiers, library supervisors, and help setting up/tearing down. We also have conferences, and will need more baked goods donated to the teachers' lounge.
