Mods & More

I've made a few improvements/modifications or additions to the camper.

Dual 5# Propane Tanks

I typically carry two tanks for the grill(s) and the Coleman stove.  It always bugged me that the tanks were taking up space in the front storage area of the trailer.  When our seldom used marine/deep cycle battery died I had a ready made spot to mount something(s) to the trailer A-frame.

The left hand photo shows a 1/4"-20 bolt, flat washers, lock washers, and a hex nut used as a 'pin' of sorts that will stay with each tank.  The photo on the right shows the holes drilled into the battery box flange.

 The finished product.

BAL Single Tire Leveler

The one and only "infamous" BAL.  I purchased ours form the PUX Trading Post as a Christmas present to me last year.  Anything that makes set-up that much easier can't be all bad - IMHO.

PUG (PopupGizmos) High Wind Solar Bunk End Covers

The PUP's 2006 Christmas present.  I've wanted a set of these since we bought the trailer in 2001.  I got confirmation that our bunk ends were the same dimensions as a 2002 unit that Bob at PUG had dimensions for. I ordered a set through the PUX Trading Post (once again).  The set of three covers with custom Velcro ends were delivered in under a week!  They are waiting for their first install next spring.

12 Volt Socket Install

We picked up a Endless Breeze fan from the Pop-Up Times store a while back and we had nowhere to plug it in. It came with a cigarette lighter style plug for 12 Volt use. Originally I Joe-rigged one of the overhead corded lights that plug in with a 1/4" phono plug. This worked ok for the first trip but having the cord coming from overhead was a PITA.

In August 2004 I had a free weekend and pulled out the camper for some cleaning. The 12FSO has a flip over sink that looked ripe for a 12 Volt socket. I spied a few 12 Volt feeds inside the sink cabinet and spliced one for the socket. I ran the wires up through the water line hole and out and around the inside of the flip over sink to the side. Drilled an appropriate hole and wired and soldered the ends. A few wire ties later we were ready to roll.

I purchased the 12VDC Car Power Accessory Outlet at local Radio Shack store.

Slide-Out Tent Repair

The fabric at the top of the camper box was pulling out at each side of the slide-out. I contacted Jayco Customer Service and received spot-on detailed repair instructions. What a great company to do business with after the sale!

A couple of precisely drilled pilot holes, a couple of stainless steel screws with countersunk washers, some judicious plastic putty knife work and no more loose fabric.  Bingo!  It might not be an "Oz mod"  but it worked out perfectly.  The new 'repair' screws are on the left of left picture and the rigth side of the right hand picture.
