The House
NZ History: the former Fortrose schoolhouse, built in 1938, now relocated to our farm garden. Lofty ceilings, polished native wood floors, a home with many stories to tell. One double room, one twin and spare beds. Electric blankets, all linen supplied. Yunca wood fire, fully-equipped kitchen, good books, art, games, trampoline, TV and radio.
The Farm -----The Beach Behind the house, green pastureland rolls down to the Ocean. You have private access to a long stretch of deserted southern coastline. The beach offers solitude and endless interest in the way of birdlife, rocks and shells. You can build a summer bonfire on the sand and watch the sun go down over Foveaux Strait. From Fortrose - 5km, Waipapa Point - 11km, Curio Bay - 30km, Invercargill - 50km. Tariff 2008-9 Season: Two people $130 per day, four $160 Longer stays are negotiable. Special rates for families. Breakfast and evening meal may be available by arrangement. We can also provide a car and pickup if you wish.
