Blue NG's Amended ApplicationOn 13th April Newham Planning Commitee recommended that the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC) give permission for the ammendment's to Blue NG's Beckton power station. The original plans for the power station were approved in June 2008 but the building work has not started and Blue NG have already purchased the engine they need to build the new design on the power station. The power station will cause even more air pollution and health problems in Beckton and the surrounding area and the use of non-recycled, virgin biofuels will contribute to climate change, rising food prices and human rights abuses in developing countries. Over 500 local residents objected to the original plans.
