The name Food Geek represents our passion and love for all things food!

The definition of geek (\ˈgēk\) according to Webster’s dictionary :

1 : a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake

2 : a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked

3 : an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity

I can guarantee that no one here at Food Geek will be biting the head off a live chicken and there are no carnival performers.  We also think that we are pretty likeable, but you’ll have to be the judge of that.

We think a better way to describe us is that we are completely and utterly passionate about food and are equally excited about sharing our passion with anyone willing to listen to us.  As far as being “geeks”, a U.S. State Department official said the difference between nerds and geeks is "geeks get it done".   That’s us here at Food Geek….we get it done!

Food Geek is the creation of a mother-daughter dynamic duo who love food and are passionate about giving the next generation an appreciation for “real” food.  Food Geek was started to reintroduce kids to food that is minimally processed and nourishes the body, mind, and soul.  Food is fun….and our goal is to bring this fun to the people of San Diego in a variety of ways.  It is also our goal to inspire young people to consider careers in the culinary arts.
