Fred Ericson Age : 48 years old Occupation : Vendor at the Farmer's market. " I am happy with my current sales and customer base. I do not want to upgrade " Fred has been selling his produce at the Farmer's Market in Ann Arbor,MI for the past 30 years. Over the years he has won the trust of his customers and has built a loyal customer base. He has developed and perfected his own system of organizing his produce, as a result of which he does not have a food inventory problem. He uses a unique color coding system which helps him to differentiate between produce which was produced on an earlier date with the produce which was produced on a later date. This way he is able to intelligently manage his food inventory. He also has sufficient cold storage space to stock all his produce, when he runs out of this, he rents out space from others. He sells most of what he produces and on those rare occasions when there is some left over, it is not more than 5%-10% of his total produce. He has different strategies to sell over the left overs. -He sells the left overs at a discounted price the next day. -Go to multiple markets to sell his produce. -Give it away in the form of charities. Fred is very happy with the way his business is doing at the moment. Although he believes that having an app which would help him in connecting to new and prospective customers is good for his business, he does not want to upgrade to a smart phone as he finds the price prohibitive. He is also content with his customer base and does not want to expand it. He is not interested to use this app for food inventory management. |
