Serves aprox. 24 - Moist, layered sponge cake with homemade strawberry
jam filling. Covered with strawberry flavoured butter cream under
marshmellow fondant.
This cake was made of chocolate chiffon cake layered with belgian chocolate buttercream and covered with marshmellow fondant. It's a 6" on a 9" base. It was made for an auction at the local Sri Lankan buddhist temple. The bottom tier is made up of the colours of the buddhist flag while the top tier is decorated with a dharma chakraya.
Here's my first tier cake (9.5"- 8"). Made for Annabelle's reception. It is made with layered buttermilk cake filled with vanilla buttercream and finished off with marshmallow fondant. The simple topper is made with organic zinnias.
This second attempt at a tier cake was for a first birthday. The request was flowers and butterflies. The flowers are made out of marshmallow fondant and the butterflies out of royal icing. The cake is topped with a bouquet of organic Gerber daisies.
Since marshmallow fondant is difficult to make here in Germany I now work with real fondant. It tastes much better and is easier to work with than marshmallow fondant. Check out my teddy bears picnic cake. Made for a first birthday.
