NIGEL SAUNDERS

SUNDAY'S CHILD

You came on a summer Sunday
Child of the Sabbath in every way,
Born into an afternoon of sunshine
Sweet miracle of life, baby of mine.

On Monday you flutter your tiny wings
Life’s first adventure to you sings,
Dark eyes bright as sunlit pools
You begin the happy days of school.

Tuesday you first go out to tea
I ache to take you home with me,
My little person with a life of her own,
With sad happy heart I return alone.

You first swam one Wednesday, one June
On sun dappled water amidst joy abloom
Your growing limbs, your growing mind
The blossom leaves the bud behind.

I watched you sparkle one Thursday night
Amongst the crowd you were the light
And those you touched began to shine,
Such love, such pride young women of mine.

Twas Friday life knocked upon our door
The world your oyster to explore,
Glittering dreams bade you follow, depart
The tears stayed hidden in my heart.

Saturday, such pain my smile must deny
As gently the bonds of love you untie
And oh how softly you do prepare
To leave my life, to leave my care.

Januarys grey relentless day
Like a thief in the night it steals you away,
Memories of when our summer sun shone
One last kiss, one last touch and then you are gone.

Now spread your wings and soar from me
For that’s the way it’s meant to be,
Go forth my love the world is thine
Sweet miracle of life, baby of mine

CRAYFORD ARMS

Thanks to everyone who supported the all day folk event at The Crayford Arms. here are some photographs that I took. It was good to see a good turnout of folkmobbers including the great DK himself. The good news is that a regular once or twice a month session should be starting at this friendly pub soon!

This is an acoustic evening. The tables and chairs are set out in a large circle. A stick is passed around the circle. Whoever is holding the stick may perform a song, play a tune or simply pass the stick on!
