The UK Children’s FM Working Group in association with the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) is pleased to announce the launch on 14 July of a new publication -Quality Standards for the effective use of personal FM systems. To date, in the UK, there have been no such guidelines covering the use of this technology. The document emanates from a group of like-minded individuals all seeking to improve the listening experience for deaf children. The group is made up of manufacturers, education practitioners, research personnel and the voluntary sector. The 13 quality standards cover candidacy, fitting and setting up, management and use, evaluation, and use with soundfield systems. They are complemented by a CD of practical information- the Good Practice Guide which seeks to support the achievement of the quality standards. It is hoped that all users and managers of personal FM technology will find this a useful resource. Printed copies of the publication are available via the NDCS helpline: 0808 800 8880 (voice and Minicom)
