of long-term care in the State of Florida.
Our coalition partners include associations of nursing homes and other long-term care settings, the state long-term care ombudsman, long-term care professionals, consumer organizations, researchers, and culture change* consultants and elder advocates. Our volunteer base is constantly expanding as our message and projects impact long-term care in Florida. Mission
Improve the quality of life and work in Florida elder care
Vision
Foster person-directed care for individuals who live and work in long-term care.
Encourage supportive communities that uphold individual dignity and respect and enable choice and self-determination. *"Culture change" is the name given to the national movement for the transformation of older adult services, based on person-directed values and practices in which the voices of elders and those working with them are considered and respected. Core values are choice, dignity, respect, self-determination and purposeful living.
| Like having your lipstick on to face the world. Audrey Mainzer checked into the Health Center at Winter Park’s Mayflower Retirement Community following surgery to repair a fractured bone. A resident in Mayflower’s independent living apartments for 14 years, the impeccably groomed 84-year-old boasts that her only previous hospitalizations had been to deliver her five children.
