Janet Rutkowski + Walter Kenul

The "Oracle" is a sculptural seat influenced by the crescent moon, fabricated in steel yet possessing a life of it's own. It surfaced, as automatic handwriting, onto my sketchpad. my mind, heart, spirit , the pencil, the drawing pad, the universe all aligned upon that instance. Out of hundreds of drawings it demanded existence. Thus, it was conceived. "The Oracle" has a definite effect on the person sitting within it. Hence, the project was born.

We are photographing various people to sit within "The Oracle" We are looking for the creative, the unusual, the intellectual, the famous, the infamous along with the everyday. Poets, musicians, writers, actors etc. will share the pages with the chef, the welder , the farmer and more.

The "Oracle Project is being reviewed for publication along with a book launching party and exhibition.

The Oracle will be exhibited along with the photographs at the 2009 Florence Biennale.
It is currently part of the "Black Madonna" show at the H.P. Garcia Gallery in NYC , the show has been extended through September with a catalogue party on Sept. 16th.
