What is FIRST?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.

FIRST LEGO League(FLL) is a hands-on robotics program for ages 9-14. It is designed so kids can explore and get involved in S.T.E.M. Science-Technology-Engineering-Math while building an autonomous robot to compete on a yearly themed challenge field and also create a solution to a real-world problem and present their ideas to the judges at a FLL Regional Competition.

FIRST LEGO League Jr. (FLL Jr.) is a hands-on robotics program designed for young kids. Each year, FIRST LEGO League Jr. presents a new and exciting Challenge to ignite the creativity of children age 6 to 10. Each team of 2 - 6 kids, begins the exploration of this real-world theme with an exclusive LEGO® Education Inspire Model. Using this model as a starting point, they design a new model of their own with LEGO® elements.

What Can I Do To Help?

FLL/FLL Jr. is 100% Volunteer based. Each team needs 2 adult coaches. Don't worry, you don't need any experience! You are there to support and guide the kids, but the kids do all the work! We have plenty of experience and can help show you and the kids all you need to know to start a FLL /FLL Jr. team.
