Professional: I am an associate professor of English, specializing in the early modern period. I teach courses on Shakespeare, Milton, Renaissance Drama, and Seventeenth Century Literature. This is a link to my vita. Scholarly: My main research interests involve English representations of the Dutch in the early modern period. I also work on the intersection of the somatic and the political, with a special interest in bodily suffering and the body politic. Recently, ideas about nostalgia have also become important in my work. This is a link to descriptions of some of my current research. Academic: This term I am teaching the BritLit Survey, Shakespeare, Intro to Lit and Intro to Graduate Studies. The gamut, really! This is a link to materials for the seminars and courses I'm teaching. Here you can go to an archive of old classes. I also recently organized and led SJSU's program in Bath, England.
