June 14-18, 2010  159 Hagerty Hall on the OSU campus
9am-4:00pm daily
694 undergraduate / graduate course – 3 hours credit

Course Description

Using both theoretical and practical applications we will explore technology tools readily available to instructors to aid in creating in class and out-of-class activities for foreign languages. Student-centered activities with task-based goals will provide the impetus for discussion, while building knowledge of resources.  Web platform shareware applications will include: Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, Skype, Audacity, YouTube, Windows Movie Maker and PowerPoint.  This course will meet daily with readings and outside work required.

Course Objectives

Students will begin by creating a teaching philosophy that they will expand upon at week’s end to add a technology component to their teaching goals.  They will experiment with pedagogical applications on a variety of computer-based software and on-line platforms to enhance and broaden the interactive technology experience of their language learners.  Their lesson plan project will incorporate several of the technologies discussed in the course into a coherent, detailed, and communicative lesson plan for classroom use.
