Development and Research Activities

  • 03/2011 – 08/2011: During the first semester of 2011 I was at University of British Columbia (UBC) as a visiting researcher of the Networked Systems Laboratory (http://netsyslab.ece.ubc.ca) under the supervision of Matei Ripeanu.

  • 05/2010 – Currently: PHD Student at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Currently researching dynamic social and complex networks. Research done for Brazil´s National Institute for Web Research (http://www.inweb.org.br).

  • 03/2008 - 05/2010: MSc Student at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Research done on social network and Web 2.0 sites, with the main objective of extracting evidence of quality of social relations (i.e. friendship links) and textual data (i.e. tags) data when applied to information retrieval (IR) tasks. Research done for Brazil´s National Institute for Web Research.

  • 01/2007 – 02/2008: Member the OurGrid Project (http://www.ourgrid.org) as a Scientific Initiation Student. Research done in the areas of Business Driven IT Management and Business Driven Grid Management.

  • 06/2007 – 02/2008: Member the OurGrid Project as a Scientific Initiation Student. Research done in the areas of grid security, the work done is in the area of studying and developing secure grid computing environments with focus on the OurGrid middleware.

  • 01/2006 – 12/2006: Member the OurGrid Project as a Scientific Initiation Student. The OurGrid project does research on distributed systems and is responsible for the development of the OurGrid middleware. The work done was mainly as a developer of the OurGrid middleware.

  • 03/2005 – 12/2005: Member the Failure Spotter Project (http://spotter.lsd.ufcg.edu.br), as a Scientific Initiation Student. The Failure Spotter project did research in fault tolerance on distributed systems using OurGrid. The work done was as a research assistant and developer in creating a fault tolerant execution service for OurGrid.
