Hello! Last week we attended a show at the Flynn Theatre in Burlington. Chasing George Washington was an impressive musical about life in the White House through various historical times. Most students seemed to really enjoy the performance, and did a great job as audience members.
I encourage all to check out the school's website for a few things to be aware of BEFORE Thanksgiving break. Thanks!

Greetings! We are in the midst of teacher/parent/student conferences, which are going quite splendidly. I am VERY proud of how the students have been leading the conversations, and with their sincere honesty towards their self-assessments.
Today was a very exciting day in the 5th grade house... as we had a real, live actor leading us through a workshop. As you may have heard from your student, we will be attending a musical at the Flynn Theatre on November 3 about a wacky adventure for some kids on a tour of the White House. Mrs. Olson, our actor, led us through various techniques as both actors and directors, while clueing us in about our upcoming show. Expect a permission slip early next week!

Hello to all! I'd like to thank everyone who was able to come to SATEC's open house last week. It was a great chance to casually meet with parents, students, and families. Our more formal parent/student/teacher conferences will be coming up in October. In case you missed the chance, there was a sign-up sheet available the night of open house. I will be following up with any parents who have yet to sign up. FYI, conferences will be taking place the nights of October 14, 19, and 20th (3:15 pm - 7:15 pm). They will last 15 minutes, and will be facilitated by the students (with support from me).
This Friday (October 2nd) we will begin our annual NECAP testing. Students are advised to get plenty of sleep, eat breakfast, and give their best effort during the testing. In preparation for the tests, we have been working on related reading/math skills in our S.I.T. groups.
Thank you for checking in on "Flanagonia!" Until next time...

STARBASE is here! Last Friday was a very exciting morning here in the 5th grade as we launched rockets in the upper soccer field. For the last week we have been learning about flight, basic physics, and working on our teambuilding skills through a terrific program called, STARBASE. Tomorrow, as you already know, the Flanagonians will be joining Mrs. McAdoo's class on a field studies trip to the STARBASE headquarters. Students should be certain to bring a bagged lunch and a non-glass drink. Please keep school-wide expectations in mind with packing your student's lunch.
We're looking forward to a great trip!
