League Information

A. Purpose of the League
The Forsyth League of Academic Games(*FLAG+) provides academic competition for students in elementary and middle schools. Participants are motivated to improve their skills in mathematics, language arts, and social studies and receive recognition for their achievements.
 
B. Formation of the League
The first academic games tournament took place in Forsyth County during March of 2004 at Sharon Elementary School. Ten elementary students traveled to Kissimmee, Florida for the 2004 AGLOA National Tournament. The Forsyth League of Academic Games was formed by Diana Wieberg and Laura Thornton with the tremendous effort of Dr. Janet Reid, former principal of Sharon Elementary.
 
C. History of the League
The league expanded in 2005 to include Settles Bridge Elementary and Riverwatch Middle School. Twenty-five students traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the 2005 AGLOA National Tournament. *FLAG+ made their presence known through winning 20 trophies and medals in the national tournament.
 
D. Composition of the League
*FLAG+ provides elementary and middle schools in the Forsyth School District the opportunity  to compete in academic competition locally and on the national level. Private and parochial schools are also welcome.
