Hi, this is a webpage designed to complement my book Back To The Badlands, on hardboiled crime fiction in America. Here you can find all the chapters from the original book, Into The Badlands, that do not appear in the new edition (unfortunately they appear here in their fresh-from-my-computer un-copy edited form, so my apologies for the typos). 

Gradually the site will also include other interviews I've done with crime (more or less) writers and reviews of their books. Some of the writers will be those included in one or other edition of the book, others are ones who for one reason or another I missed out. Most of this material has appeared in newspapers and magazines over the years. Some of it is previously unpublished.

I've started a blog thing here, which also has information on my books, festival organising etc.
