Closing notes for 2009We had a wonderful season. There were not a whole lot of salmon in the river this year. Consequently, there were very few anglers on the river. Luckily, for those who did come up, the fishing was very good! There were very few grisles this year, so we'll see what impact that has on next year's returns of adults. There were quite a few juvenile brook trout! Hopefully this bodes well for next year's return of adult sea run Brookies. 2009 changes to the regs for Sea run trout:Starting this year, the daily limit for sea run brook trout is 5 of which ONLY One can be more than 36 cm (14 inches). This change applies to the Ste-Marguerite, Mars, St-Jean and Little Saguenay Rivers. Also new for 2009, I finally replaced the canoe that someone walked off with. I ordered a boat from Dave Scadden at North Fork Outdoors It arrived in early March. Since the McKenzie floats were on back order, Dave had the new 2009 Outlaw Outfitter floats sent instead!! I've also ordered up some seat risers, swivels, carbon fiber oars ... name it!
I've been very pleased with the quality and workmanship of this boat. A product review can be found on the Outlaw Review Page. A special thanks to Dave and Derek for all their help putting this package together for me.
Thanksgiving on the Ste-Marguerite!This coming October long weekend, come on out for the last outing of the 2009 season. A number of us will be on the river October 10, 11 and 12th.
This second run of sea trout is an excellent opportunity to discover the Ste-Marguerite river valley and meet some new friends. Need information? Contact me by e-mail
