The Fish Culture Se
ction of the American Fisheries Society is an association of members concerned with advancing cultivation technology of aquatic organisms for food, enhancing commercial and recreational fisheries, as ornamental species, and aquatic resources conservation. The Section represents those directly involved in fish culture and those involved in allied fields such as nutrition, physiology, toxicology, drug development, genetics and breeding, bioengineering and system design, economics, fisheries management and ecology, and everything in between. The Section disseminates information about fish culture, and strives to support and enhance fish culture programs of private, governmental, and international entities.

THIS JUST IN--NEW APPROVAL FOR AQUAFLOR!

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the approval of Aquaflor (florfenicol), including two new indications, an increased maximum dose, and a single withdrawal period for all approved uses. Aquaflor is now approved for the control of mortality due to streptococcal septicemia (freshwater-reared warmwater finfish), columnaris disease (ALL freshwater-reared finfish), enteric septicemia (catfish), furunculosis and coldwater disease (freshwater-reared salmonids).
