Sr. Gloria Decotis, a Sister of St. Joseph at St. Vincent DePaul Roman Catholic Church here on the Northside is retiring—not sure that’s a word usually used in the Catholic Church—in June. She will be returning to the Mother House in Latham, NY where in her mid-80’s her new assignment will be in administration.
We held a luncheon here in April in her honor with “absolutely no hoopla.” (Her request!) Sister Gloria has been a strong advocate in all areas of peace and justice including working tirelessly to support the work of the ecumenical Northside Neighborhood Food Pantry at First English. She has been a force to be reckoned with as she’s held feet to the fire to give people living in poverty a boost up be it formula to get through the weekend or a good word with a potential employer. Her work among all of us has been a blessing to so many. We rejoice with her as she returns home and finds new callings but she will be missed! ************* TELL YOUR STORY - READ THE STORIES OF OTHERS All are invited to visit the following website…especially our friends from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar
