In the writing/publishing world in print or on the web, "content is king." On that note, I am far from dead in sharing my vast background and unique perspective on the climbing and conservation worlds. Please stay in touch as I embark on new exciting endeavors. Much of what we built on through First Ascent Press will continue to evolve and be available. Stay tuned!

Comments & More

To my friends, customers and supporters:

On November 16, 2009 First Ascent Press went through Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Court in historic uptown Butte, Montana. This effectively ended six years of operations. During that time I was fortunate to work and live in a beautiful place doing what I love the most. The talented and passionate authors, designers, contributors and customers I have worked with over the years have all been a pleasure and many remain fast friends.
Thank you all for your business and support.

For those of you interested in purchasing any of the award-winning titles created by First Ascent Press, I have included some links in the side bar to the left. Please check back here frequently as I will be updating where and how you may purchase titles once the remainders find a home. Currently, it is out of my hands.

In the side bar is a list of the 10 titles I produced. I have put my heart and soul (and finances) into this endeavor. And though it is sad to see First Ascent Press go away, I view it like evolutionary biology. Everything (except maybe sharks, cockroaches and alligators) are slated for eventual extinction. And although First Ascent Press' demise came early, I created some proud offspring at First Ascent Press and it's my legacy and hope that some of the DNA is out there in the guidebook gene pool to help make the next generation that much better.

I look forward to hearing from all of you on how our books have inspired you in your outdoor and publishing pursuits. Please leave your comments and thoughts on the "Your Comments" Page. They mean a lot! I hope to see you out there in the mountains!

Deepest Regards,

Joe Josephson
Livingston, Montana

Friends,

I set this page up as a "Wiki" Google Site so that others may contribute and include their stories of how First Ascent Press and our guidebooks assisted you in your successes and failures (we hope not too many sandbags) in the mountains and climbs of Montana and Wyoming. Please include your photos and stories on the "Your Comments" page link to the left. I would love to hear from you.

Cheers, Joe
