Cat.  Sprinkler.  Sprinkler.  Fence.  Thank goodness for that!   

Following the title's lead, this text is ultra simple throughout.  A single word introduces the readers to each new character, followed up with the refrain "Thank goodness for that!"  A full day with Cat includes terrorizing the neighbor's dog, tangling with the garden sprinkler, and narrowly escaping a tricycle casualty.

The warm illustrations show close attention to detail, which is essential to the story line.  The facial expressions (those big green eyes!) and body language convey the intentions and emotions of the characters succinctly.  Each time you pick up this book, you will likely note a few more illustrative details that escaped your attention on the prior read. 

 The sparsely worded adventures of Cat are ideal for beginning readers or toddlers.  It manages to be both a fun read and an excellent tool for building their cognitive skills (sneaky!).  A particularly good choice for the this-is-the-last-one-I-mean-it bedtime book.
