In November of 1985, thirteen people met at the Sedgwick County Fire Department where FEAK’s by-laws were adopted; dues were set ($5 per year); and the inaugural association officers were elected.

Those officers were: President Jim Cloud (Wichita FD), First Vice President Kent Harris (Olathe FD), Second Vice President Ray Benner (Pittsburg FD), Secretary Carol Rhaesa (Salina FD) and Treasurer Larry Gentzler (El Dorado FD). After 25-years of active membership, Lieutenant Patti Peterson of the Sedgwick County FD is not only a foundational member, but FEAK’s South Trustee and unofficial historian.
