About us

A fire department responds to a fire in the United States every 20 seconds, according to the United States Fire Administration. In 2007, fire killed more Americans than all natural disasters combined and caused an estimated $14.6 billion in property damage. These numbers, although staggering and sobering, can be reduced with fire and life safety prevention efforts.

Established in 1985 and working for a safer Kansas, FEAK’s purpose is:

* To assist Kansas communities promote fire and life safety education
* To provide opportunities for training, education and interventions to those people dedicated to fire and life safety education and awareness
* To provide a fire and life safety network for the exchange of ideas and resources
