Parental Involvement

Parental/Guardian involvement is essential for the success of a student.  It is important that we (both the teacher and the parent/guardian) communicate effectively with each other in order to ensure consistency.  In order to ensure success, I strongly encourage open communication and participation in classes.  I hope to consistently communicate with you about your child.  Please feel free to contact me whenever you have questions or concerns.

Why Get Involved?

Research reveals many benefits when parents are involved in their child's education, including:

  • Higher grades and test scores;
  • Better attitudes and behavior;
  • Better school attendance;
  • More homework completed;
  • Greater likelihood of graduating from high school; and
  • Better chance of enrolling in postsecondary education.

Showing an interest in your child's education, setting high expectations for achievement and letting your child know you believe in his or her abilities sets a positive context for growth and achievement.

Ways for You to be More Involved!

  • Communicate with your child's teachers via phone or email.
  • Check your child's assignment notebook on a daily basis.
  • Check you child's online grades regularly.
  • Check Franklin's website for upcoming events and important information.
  • Check teacher websites for assignments, grades and upcoming events.
  • Make arrangements to come visit your child's classes.
  • Make an appointment to meet with us.  We meet as a team every day!
  • Volunteer in class or come with us on field trips.
  • Attend Open House in the fall.
  • Set up a time to meet with teachers during parent-teacher conferences.
