Ms. Steelman-Allen: 7 South Science, Reading & Enrichment

I am delighted to be teaching at Franklin this year, and I am looking forward to sharing an enriching educational experience with all of you. My intent is to help each one of you to have a successful and rewarding year. I will be a science teacher for all 7 South students, and a reading and enrichment teacher for some students as well.

In order to create a classroom environment where all students can learn, I enforce classr
oom expectations based on respect and responsibility. In the lively discussions of the materials we are studying, I insist on a risk-free environment where students can express their thoughts and feelings while being tolerant and respectful of other views.

Science classes will be a combination of discussion, note taking, hands-on activities, high-level inquiry, and some reading from the text and other printed materials. Students will work individually and in cooperative groups. We will begin the year with a unit on life processes, which will include processes from photosynthesis to osmosis to cell division.

Most of our work will be completed in class. Homework will be assigned as needed, about once a week. Usually students will need their binder to help them complete homework and study for tests.

If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me!

Cheers,

Fiona Steelman-Allen
