Fidonews has been "hijacked" by a terrorist organisation called the NAB (North American Backbone). They didn't like the current editor Bjorn Felten, a Dane and found it necessary to replace him by someone from Z1. They also made the echomail area readonly for non-Z1 unless you were "invited" for read/write.

Most sysops will not notice the hijack and will refuse the "danish weekly version" as the american version is released a bit sooner. This might cause duplicates building in their inbound folder.

Z1 allready has a "FidoGazette" which was started a few years ago with similar reasons as the "world" edition doesn't get lot's of contributions to fill it and most times in the year the FidoNews is practically empty... and the Echomail area has turned in another Flamewar zone.

This Coup also opened a lot of peoples eyes that they (the rest of the world) were all connected to this NAB systems even if their collegue-sysop lives accross the street... suddenly they were not capable of talking to each other due to the readonly censorship introduced by the American Apartheid system (NAB).

Update : Due to health reasons the new fidonews editor allready resigned and Janis Kracht has taken over "ad interim".
