Exploring College Options - Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, Stanford. -  Representatives from these schools will be holding an information session for students/parents on Thursday, 10/06/11 at 7:30pm at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, 2005 Kalia Rd. Honolulu, 96815.  Registration is required at www.exploringcollegeoptions .org.
 
Take a Practice SAT and/or ACT on Campus during Fall Break - a great opportunity to take a full length Kaplan SAT and/or ACT test at Farrington High School.  You will receive a score report showing which questions you answered right/wrong.  Even the essay portion will be scored.  Good opportunity to take a practice test before taking the "real" one.  Cost to take the practice tests is $5 per test. PSAT at Farrington High School on 10/15/11 - FHS students - register now to take the PSAT in October.  This is the preliminary test to the SAT which is required by four year colleges and universities.  Normal cost is $14.00 to take the PSAT but FHS students can take it for only $3.00.  See Mr. Honda or Ms Kudo in Portable 4 to register.  Registration deadline is Friday, September 30th, 2011.
 
KAPIOLANI COMMUNITY COLLEGE OPEN HOUSE 2011 - KCC will be holding open house events for interested students.  The open house will cover 1) background of KCC; 2) overview of KCC's academic programs; 3) transfer opportunities; 4) financial aid; 5) the application process.  It will be held on Wednesdays in Iliahi 123 AB from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.  Dates are 9/21/11, 10/5/11, 10/19/11, 11/2/11, 11/16/11.  Reserve your spot by contacting the Kuilei Outreach Program at 734-9399 or e-mail kuilei@hawaii.edu

NATIONAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE FAIR - November 1st, 2011 at Hawaii Baptist Academy, 2429 Pali Highway, Honolulu, HI. 96817.  6:00pm - 8:00pm

 "COLLEGE ATHLETICS:  WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW," a workshop for high school student athletes and parents will be held on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 at 6 PM in Farrington High School Auditorium.  Wayne Tanna, Chaminade University accounting professor and former NCAA compliance officer for Chaminade will be the featured speaker.  He will cover what high school students need to meet NCAA eligibility requirements to be a student athlete in college. 

SAT at Farrington High School - December 3, 2011.  Bring your registration ticket, picture ID, pencils and calculator.  Report no later than 7:45am.

FAFSA NIGHT AT FARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL - Monday, December 5th, 2011, starting at 6:00pm sharp.  Learn about FAFSA, what it is, how to fill it out.  You may be eligible for thousands of dollars of free money from the government to help pay for college expenses, but you can only find out if you qualify by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

HAWAII PACIFIC UNIVERSITY PREVIEW DAY ON JANUARY 14, 2012:  HPU will be hosting their preview day on Saturday, 1/14/12 at their beautiful Hawaii Loa campus.  Spend the morning with faculty, staff, and students to learn more about what HPU has to offer.  Students will have the opportunity to choose from numerous academic and student life presentations including: financial aid, career services, athletics, cheer, dance, and music.  RSVP by calling 544-0238 or visit www.hpu.edu/previewday.

COLLEGE GOAL SUNDAY - Jan. 22, 2012 -   Free help with FAFSA.  Starts at 1:00pm at the following locations: Castle High School Caf.; McKinley H.S. auditorium; Mililani H.S. caf.; Waianae H.S. Representatives from KCC and HCC on Campus Every Monday and Wednesday at lunch to meet with students - Meet with counselors from KCC (Mondays) and HCC (Wednesdays) in the cafeteria at lunch to learn about anything ranging from admissions to financial aid to general questions about the schools.

 FAFSA HELP SESSIONS ON CAMPUS AT FHS - Students from Chaminade University's Accounting program will be available to help students and parents complete their FAFSA.  Workshops have been scheduled for Wednesday, 2/1/12 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm; Saturday, 2/25/12 from 9:00am - 12:00noon; Wednesday, 3/21/12 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm and Saturday, 4/28/12 from 9:00am - 12:00noon.  See Mr. Honda in Portable 4 to sign up for one of these sessions.

UH MANOA'S - "The Manoa Experience" scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2012.  The Manoa Experience is UH Manoa's preview day and is their premier on-campus academic event of the year.  The event will take place at the UH Manoa campus.  All areas of the university, ranging from academics to campus activities will be showcased.  There will be multiple interactive booths that will allow students to talk one-on-one with faculty, staff and students.  Informational sessions on the admissions process and campus and residence hall tours will be offered throughout the day to get the full college experience.  Open to ALL high school students and families.  There is no fee to attend but registration is required.  Register online at http://www.manoa.hawaii.edu/admissions/manoa_experience.html.

KAPIOLANI COMMUNITY COLLEGE STEM SUMMER EXPERIENCE - KCC is offering 2012 high school graduates a summer opportunity that would allow you a head-start to college life with the KCC STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Program.  The program's commitment is to the environment of Hawaii and its purpose is to enhance student interest through project-based learning while earning 3 college credits.  A total of 40 students in Hawaii will be awarded full scholarships to participate in this summer program.  See Mr. Honda in Portable 4 if you are interested in applying.
