Winter foray to Jackson State Demonstration Forest, January 22-24th, 2010.
Join
FFSC for our annual forays to the Albion Field Station, located six
miles south of Mendocino. The Mendocino Coast is a bountiful haven for
fungal species in any season.
Some choice edibles may include: black trumpets, chanterelles, candy caps, and hedge-hogs.
The
Albion Field Station is recently remodeled and now features heated
private rooms with private baths and a lovely meeting hall with
commercial kitchen. The field station serves as our foray base and we
utilize the kitchen for meals and our famous Saturday night potluck. Albion has a no pets and no alcohol policy.
The cabins are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and it is
advisable to reserve a space early.
- Bring bedding & towels,
- food for your meals, and
- a dish to share at the Saturday potluck (please consult with Suggested Species list below).
Also
bring raingear, footwear and layered clothing for all possible weather
experiences, and, of course, your basket and collecting gear (including compass).
If you’d like to carpool, use the comments section below or send an email to that effect for dispersal to the membership.
The
foray cost is an exceptional bargain for the North Coast. This fee
covers lodging, facility fee and use of the meeting hall and kitchen. A
few cabins with kitchenettes are also available. Final cost is based on
how many people attend but is not likely to exceed the deposit amount.
Update: Albion is now full, so please email prior to sending payment.
To reserve a space, please SEND
EMAIL to Bill White, Minister of Long Distance Forays.
Hi all, Albion II is now full. Don't dispair: Please send us an email (longdistanceforays@fungusfed.org) if you'd like to go on the waitlist. There's always a possibility of last minute shuffling!
