My name is Alessandro Ferrari, I'm 28 and I live in Milan, Italy.
In
2009 MS cum laude in Computer Science at
“Università degli Studi di Milano”, Milan - Italy. Thesis: “Study and
development of a face tracking system for video surveillance”. In 2006 BS cum laude in Digital
Communication at “Università degli Studi di Milano”, Milan - Italy.
Thesis: “Study and development of SP/SI frames for a H.264 encoder”.

Nowadays I'm working for an Italian biometric company involved in identification systems (such as access control), face recognition and video analysis for digital marketing purposes. My job is usually focused on new face detection and classification methods but recently I also worked in the automotive field. In these years I gathered experience on a large variety of image processing problems:
- About Faces:
- Detection of Frontal and Profile Faces.
- Real Time Pose Estimation.
- Multi-View Face Tracking.
- Facial Expression Classification.
- Real Time Eye Tracking.
- Face Hallucination for Video Surveillance.
- About Human Activities:
- Human Body Detection and Tracking.
- Pedestrian Detection and Tracking.
- Intrusion Detection.
- About Motion Detection:
- Miscellaneous:
- Interactive Digital Signage.
- Digital and Proximity Marketing.
- SP / SI Frames for H.264 Encoders.
- Super Resolution for Image Enhancement.
- Markov Fields for MRI Liver / Legs / Brain Segmentation.
- Building XML Classifiers for Hard Detection Problems (Face, Body, Eye, Mouth, Hand, Car).
Take a look around
Augmented Reality and Vision, resources for image processing.
In this site I link the most interesting works I've done. Sometimes you'll find my works in Italian language only (note the [it] tags near the title); however maths, computer science and specially YouTube samples are global, so the comprehension will be possible also for non-Italian people speaking.
