Ferox Neutrino is a tool for VJs (Video Jockeys) and custom visual creators.

What is Ferox Neutrino?

Ferox Neutrino is a multi-platform live VJing tool which utilises 3D hardware to throw nice looking images around the screen which react to live sound directly through a microphone. Ferox can also utilise a USB camera to combine real-time live processed video with your set. It is primarily designed for live use within bars and clubs by "Video Jockeys" (or VJs) but can also double up as a very capable visualisation like those on Winamp or Windows Media Player.

Compatibility

Ferox currently runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, thanks to its core being 100% Java - the application itself was developed in the "processing" language which is a kind of API for interfacing with Java. Ferox is currently at v0.4 and has not been released to the public yet. I am still putting it through testing by VJing in live venues and at my home. I am available to hire for live sets done using Ferox (see links below).

Future

I hope to perfect the tool and then either release it open source or make a simple plugin system for it. My aim is to develop a very capable VJ tool which can be enjoyed in clubs and bars across the world. It will eventually be a free download and I will have a donations box for those who genuinely think it is worth it.

Ferox is primarily for wowing your audience with reactive 2D and 3D graphics, and so far there are no plans for it to handle video clips like other traditional VJing software.

(1991) Ferox was directly inspired by the Amiga Demo scene particularly Enigma by PHENOMENA, a demo which remains amazing even to this day.

Ferox was developed in processing, see processing.org - Only processing makes it possible!
