Intro to Computers is an 18 week course for 7th grade students. This course is designed to teach "touch keyboarding techniques." Students will learn various formatting skills for creating and managing documents using Microsoft Word including: reports (MLA style) with title pages, outlines and tables of contents, as well as other documents. This course will also expose students to Internet resources and search strategies. Students will explore career clusters and begin an electronic portfolio which will continue throughout their years at North Hills. Students will also create PowerPoint slideshows to be used as a presentation tool. Learning the proper way to keyboard and create Word and PowerPoint documents will make students' academically productive! The student goals for this class are as follows: *Demonstrate correct keyboarding techniques at the computer using the touch-method of keyboarding *Drill and practice conscientiously during class every day *Demonstrate keyboarding speed and accuracy on lessons *Demonstrate keyboarding speed and accuracy on straight copy material *Recognize errors in copy and circle all errors in lessons *Proofread and CORRECT errors in Word documents
