Directions

Registration information is strictly confidential. The data obtained will assist you in managing your colony, provide statistical information when groups seek grant funding for cat colonies, etc. Most importantly, if one of your cats is ever trapped and taken to a shelter, it can be returned to you. The microchip will be registered to Cat Rescue and they will maintain the information on the colony, including your contact information, so you will be contacted if you cat is picked up.

Registering your colony also makes you eligible to receive free food. From time to time we receive bags of food which is then distributed to registered colony caretakers. Currently any caretaker bringing in a feral cat for spaying/neutering are receiving bags.

To participate in our TNR program, you must register your colony either online or print our form and return it the first time you bring in your cats.

After you have registered, you can now proceed to live trap colony cats that need spaying or neutering. No appointment is necessary and cats must be brought in, in the live trap. Each cat brought to us will be:

  • tested for FIV/FELV
  • spayed/neutered
  • ear notched
  • treated for fleas
  • microchipped
  • given a rabies vaccine.
  • Cats will be ready for pick-up later the same day.

Last month Broward County awarded a $30,000 grant to Diane Fraser of Stray Aid. Diane will offer free spay/neuter, 3 year rabies shot, and microchip (if colony is registered with Sherry Norem @ www.feralcatpaws.com) This is a program for feral cats, if you are a rescue group that does not deal with ferals please pass along this information to any colony caregivers you know.

Stray Aid is located in the Animal Clinic at 4101 Griffin Road; best way to reach them is to text message to 954-816-0799 or email to mail@strayaid.org

You will also be offered the opportunity to voluntarily register your colony under a new, separate program which is not required for the grant when you take the cats to STRAY AID.

Feral Cat PAWS, Broward County TNR program. PAWS was created to assist feral colony caretakers with TNR. The registration of the colony is not required for the spay/neuter through the grant. However, by registering the colony a free microchip will be provided at the time of the spay/neuter and you will be eligible for free food when available, low cost or free treatments for the colony cats, low cost or free spay/neuters for new cats in the colony after the grant expires, etc.
